Place Holders

Place Holders

A placeholder is a character, word, or string of characters that temporarily takes the place of the final data. A place holder is thus meant to simply represent the final data it intends to represent and in itself has no meaning.

Placeholder text is used when information comes in from another source to customize your campaign for your contact. You'll find placeholders when editing Email and Event campaigns.

Why should you use placeholders?

Place holders are very helpful when you need to make changes to some important information such as your company name, company email, company telephone, among others but you want it to be reflected throughout tall the pages.

Hard coding the above information is not good in the sense that during updating, it is possible to forget making the changes on some pages. You are forced to look for wherever they appear and change them manually which is not effective as it is very possible to miss out making the changes onto some pages.

With place holders on the other hand, you only have to update once and your changes take effect immediately wherever the place holders were used.

How to use the place holders?

You only have to choose from the following place holders and use them wherever you need the information they represent to appear. You have to place those characters within two square brackets [[]] and then the information they represent will be what is shown on your pages. For instance, if you put CN in two square brackets, the company name will be returned or if you use CE then the Company Email will be returned.
